Regarding the two works from the collaboration project between Akio Harada and INSTINCTOY announced last year, we have received numerous requests from both domestic and international audiences, and we will now proceed with made-to-order production.
Both works will be displayed at the Taipei Toy Festival 2025, held from November 13 to 16, and at the 20th Anniversary Exhibition in Daikanyama, Tokyo, from December 5 to 7, during which we will also accept online pre-orders.
Before the pre-order begins, we would like to introduce the two works being released this time.
When I first saw Akio Harada's works, I was captivated by their world and the charm of the adorable animals, and I quickly became a fan.
The animals depicted on the canvas are not just "cute," but possess a mysterious presence and warmth, as if they are telling us a story. "What if the characters could jump out of this painting?" This imagination sparked the creation of these three-dimensional works.
This attempt to connect painting and sculpture was a significant challenge for us, but it was also an incredibly exciting experience.
To maximize the charm of the canvas works, we thoroughly explored the roundness, expressions, and details of the characters.
Furthermore, to make the entire work appear as if it "has directly transformed from the canvas into three dimensions," we applied a special treatment to the surface to replicate the texture of the canvas.
We aimed to imbue each part with the warmth and atmosphere depicted by Harada, and in the painting process, we repeatedly tested and adjusted to faithfully reproduce the soft light, shadows, and textures found in the paintings.
The panda's tears use glow-in-the-dark materials, which emit a fantastical light in the dark. The completed works are truly a fusion of Harada's paintings and INSTINCTOY's three-dimensional forms, embodying the essence of "jumping out of the canvas," and they possess a mysterious charm that evokes the continuation of the story within the painting just by being present.
『True ears work.』
It listens not with its seemingly large ears, but with its true ears. It perceives the presence behind words and the emotions within silence. It questions, "What does it truly mean to listen?" like a small philosopher.
